Anyone ever use those discount travel sites like expedia or travelocity. the
deals are really cheap. but I've heard horror stories about them
forgetting to included the second or third portion of your trip, billing
you but sending you no ticket. All of this being found out while you are stranded at the airport. I'd buy directly from the airline but doing so would be literally 1000 $ more. |

I've used www.kayak.com for the past 6 years. It's a metasearch engine that searches through everything i.e. expedia, travelocity, cheaptickets.. and it searches the airlines websites i.e. delta, singapore, koreanair, etc..
From my experience I've never had a problem using expedia, travelocity, cheaptickets or orbitz. They email you an electronic ticket and all you need is to print it out and bring it with you to the airport/car rental/hotel. My favorite is Orbitz, cause they have the coolest commercials... although I use cheaptickets.com more cause they're cheaper. |

Yes, all the time. I've never had any problems. As long as you print all the confirmations (tickets, hotels reservations, etc.) and bring them with you, any problems should be correctable on the spot.
www.orbitz.com & http://supersearch.travelzoo.com/ are also good to check, if you're not familiar. |

Most of the time I've found similar prices on the airlines websites that I have on the 'discount websites', though I don't really think they're that 'discount'. I've never seen a $1000 price difference.
I've used them all (orbitz, travelocity, cheaptickets) multiple times with no problems. I usually start with Kayak and Vayama and then move from there, though.
If you're looking for plane tickets out of Korea, though, there are actual discount websites that consistently beat the best prices of the American sites. whypaymore.co.kr and onlinetour.co.kr are good ones if you have a Korean friend that can help you. |
