The fan on my Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop has been playing up for a while now. When it's plugged into a socket it runs fine for about 5 minutes, then the fan kicks on running at it's highest (and loudest) speed until I either switch to the battery or turn it off.
It's really annoying and I think I need a new fan, as the noise problem has plagued me ever since I bought it 4 years ago.
So, are there any outlets where Dell laptops can be repaired in Seoul or Suwon? Even better would be one where English is spoken.
Thanks |

sometimes it's just dust that's accumulated in the fan and the hot air can't get out so the computer heats up faster.
Take a vacuum or one of those air guns and suck out all the dust.
My laptop used to heat up and shut off after use for about 20 minutes or so until i cleared the fan with a vacuum.
It's a very common problem with laptops. |

Sounds like there is a dust build up in the fan outlet. Open the back of it and blow some compressed air through, but if its really blocked you will need to open the fan casing itself to get right in there. Always happens to laptops and happened to mine (which is also a dell.)
Edit, sorry didn't read the post that basically says to do this. I personally wouldnt use a vacuum cleaner though, its better to blow it out from the inside of the laptop by taking the motherboard case off. |
