| Anyone know if it possible to obtain a real Christmas tree in Korea? Specifically somewhere in/around Seoul? My co-workers have challenged me that my hunt will be unsuccessful.. |

Your co-workers are Koreans or natives?
Koreans don't know s**t! Of course you can get a real Christmas tree! I have before.. but this was in Daejeon.
Let me find something on the internet and report back. |

| Christmas trees are sold on the Yongsan military base. I don't know what the price is, but if you have a friend who is able to get you on base, you might be able to pick one up there. |

| I remember hearing that they are uncommon and perhaps against apartment regulations because they present a fire hazard. |

I'm pretty sure it's also against regulations to keep bicycles locked up in the stairwell of the building. That doesn't stop anyone... *sigh* |

OP have you had any luck with your search so far? I, for one, would be interested.
I know Christmas isn't a big deal in most of Korea, but it is in my apartment and a two foot piece of green plastic with a can of pine scented air freshener doesn't quite measure up to the real thing... |

How true. Yet, in seven years I have never seen a real Christmas tree in Korea. Plenty of fake ones in schools and homes. Maybe I've just been unlucky.
Might be time for the OP to engage in some National Lampoon/Chevy Chase like behaviour. |

Sorry I forgot about this thread.
Christmas tree is basically FIR tree, which is 전나무 in Korean.
If you have a Korean friend, you can go here. They seem to have trees that they have grown for 300 weeks for sale.
From the same site
They have fir trees that have been grown for 210 weeks that are at least 2.5m high.
ETA = to the person who asked if my daughter also doesn't know s**t because is HALF Korean. I can honestly tell you that, right NOW, being only FIVE YEARS OLD, I'd venture to say that her knowledge is very limited.
Luckily, she will not be living here much longer and will be experiencing a very international life with me as we travel from country to country having fun together, wherever my new life/jobs may take us.
And I stand by what I say. Koreans don't know much because they don't bother trying to FIND OUT. They go with what is the most common and the most convenient because it's the NORM. |

Dear all (sorry for my previous message),
can I make put i a question on this theme to make it even more difficult:
If anybody has found a place to buy real x-mas trees in Seoul do they also know if there is a possibility to order one on-line?
I would like to give a (surprise) x-mastree to a friend in Seoul, but am myself in central-asia.
Any suggestions or help are greatly appreciated. |
