Let's talk about sports? Everyone likes sports?

Baseball
Soccer

Anyone see any baseball playoff game recently?
Soccer playoffs start next week.
Basketball season has started.

2006 World Cup qualifying and Chunnam Dragons K-league soccer;
Anyang Halla ice hockey;
Formula-3 car racing in Changwon (in '03 before Korea was cancelled from the circuit)

might get to a basketball game sometime

not interested in baseball but with a k-friend lovin' it I just might end up going

Anyone in the area, PM me, we can meet up.

Seoul VS Cheonnam is Nov 21.

Watched the Korea Series in Baseball, Game 5 in 2006. Was pretty loud, interesting and the stadium was full. I've seen a couple of other baseball games since then and had more fun, especially on a nice warm summer day with BYOB that you can buy right outside the stadium and tickets for only about 5,000 won. My wife couldn't believe me when I told her that football tickets in the U.S. can easily run $80 to $100.

I watched Korea vs Iraq football. I believe it was WC qualifying. The Koreans totally out worked the Iraqis. I'm guessing it's due to coaching/practice/training.

Something that bugged me though was that during the national anthems, I noticed a ton of people sat through the Iraqi anthem. Not just one or two, but just a ton of people. I assumed that standing for national anthems was mostly a western concept, but then all the Koreans who were sitting suddenly sprang up when the Korean anthem was played.

i love going to baseball games here. i took my parents and brother too and they loved it as well. Also been to some WC qualifying games as well as the Man Utd game here. I notice that even when Korean anthem is played Koreans still talk,eat or etc. I couldnt believe it with all the nationalism going about.

Going to the events is cheap and fairly entertaining. The hoops level is around Div. 1 college basektball at best. The baseball is better but the stadium in Seoul is a dump.

I like to play sports in Korea but the facilities are terrible. Part of enjoying baseball is being on the field. The smell of the grass, the cool breeze, etc. Here in Korea they only have dirt fields. And instead of enjoying the cool breeze I'm ducking a dirt whirlwind. I don't get it either. I was in Japan and they have lots of grass fields, parks, etc. Why can't they manage some grass in Korea?

How are Korean's fairways and greens? Cause it doesn't seem Korean's like grass at all.

(more votes please)

No matter the quality of play, playoff sports is tense and exciting. Consider going to a K League playoff game. Oh, and it will be COLD! :)

the best baseball stadium in the seoul metro area i think would be in in Incheon. they have hot dogs there, which for any baseball fan is a must. They have Steff and New York brands. And the stadium has the layout and feel of a smaller stadium back home.

Going to baseball games here is great, especially Lotte Giants games.

Men's basketball is getting better, though the rule of only having one foreigner on the court per team is lame.

K-League soccer is horrible. We had more supporters at my university's girls soccer than they have for k-league games. Internationals are a different story.

Yes, it's certainly true that quite a lot of K-league games are very poorly attended and the fact is further emphasised by those games being played in post world cup white elephant stadia that are totally inappropriate for the team's needs. (And if you watch Lotte Giants a lot, you may well be in Busan, whose K-league team is by a long way the worst example of this problem.)

But it's not all that bad. Some teams do regularly get enough support to create something approaching what most people would consider an acceptably good atmosphere. It would indeed be nice if all K-league games were well attended, but at the same time I, personally, quite like the fact that I don't have to turn up early to still be able to sit where I want. And it costs peanuts to get in. You'll rarely ever have to pay much over W10,000 for a seat at any K-league game.

Last week I saw FC Seoul's last home game of the regular league programme at the World Cup stadium for the princely sum of W4000 (half the usual price). It wasn't the best game ever, but it was entertaining enough and a good seat and view for that price, plus a tallboy size beer for W3000 and none of the hassle you get with some games you go to in Europe - IMO you'd have to be extremely miserable to be moaning about that.

However, for someone who wasn't much of a football fan in the first place, then I could see that they're probably not going to go just for the "occasion" of a K-league game.

I'd like to go to some baseball games because I like baseball, and they have cheerleaders. Cheerleaders, man! I'm sure The Babe would approve.

I'm a NFL loving American. I spent the first 6 YEARS in Korea going to NO SPORTING EVENTS. Then a few months ago, sick of "eye shopping" a revelation came to me. What about going to a local soccer game? It's better than yet another flop at the box office. I've been hooked ever since. Come on folks, K League soccer games aren't THAT bad. It's one of the top leagues in Asia and home games are about every other week, so it won't break your bank account. As I've already stated, I'm going to the playoff game next Sunday(Nov 22). See you there!
