so ive been downloading some stuff recently and had some errors on my external hard drive......it made a few strange sounds but i can watch other shown and movies that are already on there. i have very little knowledge about computers so any help would be appreciated!

if you're getting crc errors, the data you are trying to read does not match what was written. Strange sounds are very bad. You might be able to read some - and evidently are reading other areas of the disk that aren't affected. But likely you have some damage. Backup what you can now. Stop writing to it. Replace it soon.
