Hi. I have been offered an interview with a school in DaeJeon by a Charles Park. Does anyone know of this recruiter or have information about living in DaeJeon... iv trawled thru the last 15 pages of posts but not found anything very specific about the place.
Im asking for more information on the specific school and number of foreign teachers but im afraid at the moment i cant be more specific about that.
Thank you in advance for any information.
Chris. |

I suppose you need to know what my character is like to know if I would enjoy living there. Well, like everyone I enjoy spending time with friends... with a good group of friends everything is fine
I enjoy going out and clubbing, drinking and being social on a weekend but just stay in when I have to be up for work in a morning or have a non drinking night out... cinema or eating out.
I have absolutely no problems giving up western food. I could leave it alone for a year without any worries.
My reasons for wanting to teach in South Korea are in equal parts to travel, and to see if I enjoy teaching and would like to do it permanently. So a good school is necessary.
I need easy access to a gym... i dont mind if its a terrible one, just as long as it has the basic stuff.
Also, im a pretty relaxed person. It takes a lot for me to get properly stressed (and if im to believe some of the posts on Dave's im going to be very tested and still definitely get stressed).
Based on this, what location in S Korea would be good for me do you think? Is DaeJeon suited for me? and are there other places im likley to enjoy more? |

If I were you, I would steer clear of Mr Park. I believe he and his friends were the masterminds behind a hate-foreigners-campaign a couple of years ago. |

Thanks for the heads-up. It does seem a little strange that they would be recruiting foreigners if they hate them so much... Do they have a problem with specific foreigners or the lot of us? Either way, someone doing a job supporting something they hate strikes me as stupid at best, and suspicious and malicious at worst. Il keep an eye out.
VFRinterceptor, thank you for that information on Daejeon, it were an interesting read! (I especially enjoyed the story about the staring lone ranger.... you do find those guys everywhere tho). I didnt like what were said about the clicks of different foreigners, especially because of it being a relatively small community. Thats put me off nearly as much as what were said about the bars. It were not a happy summary of Daejeon, but im glad for its frankness.
Thanks both of you. |
