I need to get a new passport when I go home as mine is set to expire in less than six months from when I am leaving Korea and at the end of my stay here I am not going home. So, I want to find out what I need to do upon returning to Korea with regards to transferring my E-2 visa to my new passport.
Does anyone have any experience with this? |

i believe your supposed to go to immi within 7 days of being issued a new passport, but as long as you hang onto the old one with the stamp there shouldnt be any problem.
it's your alien resident card that really matters, anyway, since the stamp in your passport is basically just there so that you can be issued your ARC. once that happens, the passport stamp becomes rather meaningless.
if it's not too inconvenient, i would recommend swinging by the immi office to let them know and also to transfer your multiple entry permit if it's still valid in your old passport. also try calling immi and ask them what to do: dial 1345 |

i was told to just hang onto the old passport and show both new and old when exiting.
that worked for me, no problem (in oct 2007), just hand over your arc on the way out. |
