75% of them don't give a crap. I am hoping next year when I start from the beginning of the semester instead of starting in the middle of the year, things will be a little better.

My grade 6 class is, I guess, about as good as a class gets. Disturbing, because the homeroom teacher is a hard-core evangelical christian who hits the students habitually. He drew a line at 92% for the final exams and everyone who got below that was hit. I don't know what kind of cause and effect relationship is going on here but I do know that hanging out and having English time is way better than teaching. I'll miss them when they're gone.

My grade 6 kids are the usual mixed bunch of hard-workers; lazy-arses and trouble-makers. I've only taught them for 2 months, so have been putting most of my energies into the grade 5s, so (hopefully) we'll ahve a good year next year.
Also, my co-teacher ROCKS so discipline isn't much of a problem.....

Mine don't give a crap any more. Most don't even bother to show up for afternoon classes.

My 6th graders have the Step&Jump tests to do.
I fear, after that they'll be "Off to the see the Wizard".
Some will want to go home, some will not have brains,
most don't have their heart in it,
few will have the courage to speak English.

Most of them are horrible monsters and I wake up with dread on the day when I have to teach them.

It varies like everything else in this country. Some are still decent kids who want to learn. Others are blossoming graffiti artists or snoozers.

6th graders are the main reason I'm not renewing my contract. I am willing to teach anyone, any age.....except 6th Grade. They're actually pretty good in After School programs, but morning classes aren't worth the 2.1 million won a month.

1 year of 6th grade morning classes = 10 years off your life.

Mine aren't great, but they aren't horrible. They're right on the cusp of the beginning the most miserable, stressful years of their Korean lives, so I try to cut them some slack.

fortunately my 6th graders are not too bad .........however they have just finished their 6th grade exams, so they don't give a $hit anymore about the next 2 weeks of classes (still have the book to finish).......gonna be a long 2 weeks.....maybe will just end up showing movies.
