You will probably have to teach the same class 6 times per day for a month. So that works out to teaching the exact same material, phrases, questions, topics (essentially verbatim) for 120 times per month. The next month you will do the same thing, but with a different class. It gets very very repetitive and that is one huge strike against it. Basically like a robot. The Village justifies it by wanting you to be an "expert" in your class and so that the kids get to see each foreign teacher.
However, the classes can be fun and you meet many kids.
Pros and cons.
PM me if you want to know more. |

Hey Raquel,
I was just offered a position there as well. They want me to be there before xmas... so in less than 20 days. Don't think the parentals are going to let that fly, but here's the gist of what I've got. The Ansan EV was around for a couple years, but was closed down in Sept 2009. It's now being run by the same private company that runs the one in Yeongpyeong (sp?). Anyway, the contract they sent me did not have a $$ amount and it looks like they're only giving 10 days vacation with no holidays off... sketchy. The initial draw for me was the amount of foreigners who usually live in these places (I worked for one last year) and speaking with the HR guy it's looking like they're only hiring 7 foreigners and 7 Koreans to staff this place. Compared to the 30-40 foreigners and about equal Korean staff that I've heard used to work there before, I think they may have a staffing shortage (possible understatement and I could be misinformed). Talking to this guy... when you get there you'll be headed to the other campus and training there for a week then being shipped to Ansan. You'll live about a 40 minute shuttle ride from the campus and a few subway stops to the actual Ansan area. Like youtuber said, it's a robotic monotonous teaching experience and you don't get to bond with the kids. Aside from that I loved my time living in an EV because of all of the awesome foreign teachers who lived there as well. Best of luck |
