Other top Likud MPs condemned Netanyahu for the speech as well, though the comment itself was likely an attempt to spin himself as reasonable in a speech which largely amounted to issuing onerous demands to the Palestinians and pausing occasionally to be showered with applause by US officials.

Interestingly, even as members of Israel�s government try to position themselves as even more opposed to a peace deal as Netanyahu, a new poll shows the Israeli public leaning the other way, with a strong majority saying the PM should have endorsed President Obama�s call for peace talks, albeit with �reservations� about the exact terms. Netanyahu, by contrast, condemned Obama�s comments, a position apparently shared by only about 36% of Israelis, but seemingly an overwhelming majority of the American Congress.

The younger generation in Israel were born after the wars and struggles. The older generation were there for the independence and wars and are hardened because of it. The younger generation never lived it. They live in an Israel that has a much higher standard of living than its neighbors and also in a world that gives them access to all positions and world views a click away. They are also less religious. They are more modern in thinking and dress and are often less observant. My guess is the future of Israel will be different as the old generation passes away. They won't have the bunker mentality their parents and grandparents have.

Likewise the Palestinians. The older generation recalls living in Israel and there and dream of returning. The younger generation were born in the occupied lands, have grown up with no knowledge of living in Israel and retunring is really about what their parents want. Many are just trying to forge a life in the areas they now live.


These two groups will be where peace is made I think. Just a guess.
