I don't think I've ever posted a mac thread. Did you just want to make "i" jokes? If so, 2007 called and it wants it's humor back.
Anyway, per the store, I like the aesthetics of Apple stores because I like design; would be neat to see one in Seoul which sure as *beep* tries to tell everyone that it's a design "hub".
Per the phone, I think the Iphone's effect on the Korean cell-phone market is fascinating. I also like the phone; I have the 1st gen and still use it in Korea as a pda and Ipod. I won't be getting a 3gs until KT makes up their mind about foreign residents. If they never change the pricing plan for Evisas they can keep the damned thing. |

| There's an apple-ish store in Myeongdong, but it just sells overpriced accessories to the 일본 hordes. |

| Personally, I think the A# and Frisbee stores look virtually the same as Apple Stores, down to the disinterested/preoccupied employees. |

Sorry, I should have only said "iphone" - think I saw at least two or three threads on the iphone you started. No big deal, but it's kind of funny. Did you ever get one? |

Actually the accessories are much cheaper in Japan, but yeah, the one in Myongdong and Hongdae at least have some dignity. |

There is an Apple store and service center on the main street level of the 전자랜드 building at Yongsan. It's next to the Smoothie King and hard to miss.

So you visit a store and buy just because you appreciate the interior design!?
That explains why apple can get away with charging twice as much for the same components you can get in a PC.

| those Stores that were mentioned wouldn't be owned by Apple, they'd be Authorized Resellers.. Apple only has stores in US, Canada, only stores in Asia are China and Japan and some other countries.. full list here http://www.apple.com/retail/storelist/ |

| If Apple added .flac support and someone were to be able to hack iPods to enable drag-and-drop, I'd buy one immediately. I just like their interface--probably the only Apple products I would consider buying. IMO, everything else is a waste of precious funds. |

Hate to correct everybody on this thread so far, but there is no Apple store in Korea.
There are authorized Apple retailers and authorized Apple service repair centers, but no official Apple brand store.
The closest ones are in Beijing and Tokyo. I've often wondered why there was no official store. I thought it was because 99% of Koreans own PC's made my Samsung or LG, and thus Apple didn't see any reason to put down an official store here.
Their strict nationalism makes it shameful to buy anything other than a Samsung or LG. There was also the fact they locked out the iphone until Samsung could reverse engineer it enough to make a copy cat. And even then, they gave the copy cat well over a year to establish a market before they let the iphone come in. And even then, on a limited number supply, and incredibly difficult for foreigners to purchase one here.
This is what fervent nationalism and protectionism gets you.
And those guys at the a# store are a couple of douche snozzles. The less you deal with them, the better. |
