So I plan on going to Japan for Christmas and grabbing a CBC while I'm there. Does anyone know how to do this? I realize I won't get it immediately, but I can have my Japanese friend mail it to me.

What kind of criminal record check are you getting -state or federal? I know that most states and the Federal (FBI) require finger print submissions.
Will you have it notarized and apostilled in the US or will you take a local or state CRC and visit the US Embassy to have it notarized?
From my experience, I sent my finger prints back home, and had a state check; which were notarized by the state clerk upon my request.
Then the CRC was mailed to my residence overseas. Then had someone forwarded it to me in Korea where I eventually visited my countrys embassy and signed an affidavit and had it notarized.
So having it sent to Japan and then taken to a US Embassy is doable; assuming that you are a US citizen. |

Hmmm....ok. I didn't know I could do that either. As adverse as I am to getting fingerprinted, where can I get that done in Seoul?

It took about 3 weeks for me to get it by mail, and a couple of days to get it notarized at the embassy, because I stayed overnight in Seoul. In fact, I have to do it again, because I changed (not transferred) public schools. Masan Immigration let me change jobs with the old one, and gave me three months to get the new one. So, it's not too difficult at all. Just the mailing takes time. Cheers |
