Hi again, couple of questions...

1. Are there shower facilities near the entrance of Jirisan National Park? The reason I ask is because my group will be camping/hiking for four days, then will have to get on a bus to Pusan, then either a plane or bullet train back to Seoul... so everyone might be a little ripe.

2. A question on shelters... do you still need a stove or lanterns?

3. At the entrance, there's a campsite... are there shelters near the entrance too?

Thanks,
Dylan

1. Not that I remmeber...if there are they are open-air ones but there are several entrances and I've only been in through two and both had no showers

2. Stove...handy I suppose but if I remember hot water is available.
Lanterns...no

3.There are yeogwans and minbaks near all entrances

There is a famous hot springs resort there. Why not go there after camping?

Screw the shower.....your camping!
It will be warm this weekend so take a dip in one of the many streams.

my hiking trip went bust last weekend due to the rain.
However, i will be up there this weekend if the weather is good.

Exactly. After reading the op's post I was going to say:

"Just jump in a river. You are camping."

I mean, really.

You aren't wondering whether there's cell phone service in the national park, are you?

I was fishing right outside Jirisan National Park yesterday after class. Don't go there. There will be enough fucking goddamn tourists this summer. If you want to shower, just do like the local peasants do: haul your ass, dirty dishes, and car down to the stream with a bucket of non-biodegradable soap and scrub up! The fish love the detergent suds and the sediment clouds.

I understand your sentiments but I've been swimming there before, mind you I hiked 3 hours up a track where there was not a person for a couple of kilometres. The most refreshing dip I've vere had. It was frigging cold though Smile

I think Jirisan is one place I'd pass on during rainy weather- how many people have died there in the last 5 years due to flash floods? I know I'm over-reacting, but I just can't separate the place from those incidents.
