I've only been deskwarming for 10 minutes and I am losing my mind. Thi is too much like my old job. The one I flew across an ocean to get away from.

Anyway!: Fun things to do while you're stuck at work.

Games 'n stuff:

Kongregate.com : Flash game portal. They can be a little late on 'new releases', but they've got literally tens of thousands of games, ranging from the goofy to the ambitious. If you sign up for an account you can complete challenges to earn points that impress 15 year old boys logging in from the school computer lab.

Armorgames.com : As above, so below. A lot of Armorgames games are on Kongregate, but sometimes they premiere here first.

Web Junk:

Kottke.org : The always reliable Jason Kottke with the weekday updates, best of the web, etc.

Metafilter.com : The web's most civil discussion, interesting links. Hit up Ask Metafilter for all of the questions you didn't know you needed an asnwer to.

Reddit.com : Digg's handsomer, older brother. (BLOCKED at my school Sad )

Digg.com : Reddit's black sheep.

50 Interesting Wikipedia Articles (http://copybot.wordpress.com/2009/04/07/the-50-most-interesting-articles-on-wikipedia/)
and 50 More Interesting Wikipedia Articles, (http://copybot.wordpress.com/2009/09/29/50-more-of-wikipedias-most-interesting-articles/)
as well as Wikipedia's Own List of Unusual Articles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_unusual_articles)

Blogs:

Gawker.com : I'm not a huge gossip hound, but I get my fill of trashy rumors here.

Consumerist.com : Stories of tragedy and triumph from the front-lines of BUYING stuff.

Eater.com : News and rumors from the world of fine dining (NY & LA centric, but lots of general interest stuff)

Pleasent Family Shopping : Ridiculously well researched articles about the by-gone golden years of chain store shopping. For design, economics and nostalgia nerds (http://pleasantfamilyshopping.blogspot.com/)

Edible Geography : Food & Global Politics. Check out their piece on North Korean restaurants. (http://www.ediblegeography.com/)

Any other suggestions? That should get you through, uh, today. Maybe.

I'm less than an hour in and already dozing off at my desk!

Ah! i have no discernable skill, i cant do anything creative or constructive, my worksheets are flat, lifeless and boring. Im noisy, and i look at you creative busy bodies who cant seem to stop finding stuff to do with a sense of awe and raging hatred for 9/10ths of the year.

But now i will have my REVENGE!!!

If theres one thing im ggood at, its doing nothing. I have a massive boredom threshold and i intend to put it to fantastic use by doing as little as physically possible when i finally get to deskwarm. See you on the other side chumps! thatll teach you for being productive the rest of the year! Laughing

1. Daum map- all in Korean, but you can find your way around without it. Click "로드뷰" near the top right corner of the map. Fun to wander around the city.

http://local.daum.net/map/index.jsp?t__nil_bestservice=map

2. Quizlet.com you can make online flashcards or use ones already there. You can play games with your words too. Practice Korean, Spanish, whatever.

3. http://www.millionairetv.com/game/index.html

Who wants to be a millionaire online, if you are desperate.

4. http://www.whynot.net/

People post their inventions or ideas. Sometimes very stupid (and entertaining) sometimes pretty interesting.

5. avclub.com If you don't already read it, I am not sure what is wrong with you.

6. http://www.flickr.com/photos/kernbeisser/sets/

This guy's flickr has tons of amazing NK shots

7. Trying to get access to my schools locked (and unused?) weight room, but still trying to figure out who to talk to. The eyes start to hurt after 8 hours of staring at the computer!

Looking forward to more suggestions.

I haven't played slime games since high school!

During these days, I'd go outside and play with the students.

Stumbleupon.

Type in your interests and it finds related sights for you. After a few uses it becomes much more accurate.

Go to the rockstar games website and download GTA2. You have to sign up for a GTA mailing list, but otherwise, it's free.

My hobby is photography, so Flickr is my main time-waster, along with Twitter. I also blog, so Blogger might get some attention too.

But if you're not feeling productive (since Flickr and Blogger are somewhat productive, and Twitter is quasi-productive), Fark.com can also eat up a lot of time, especially the "Photoshop" threads.

Desk warming time can be a great way to get your MA. Study while at school and get paid for it.

I hope to use mine to start a TESOL course.

If not that, then download a whole bunch of podcasts and listen to them.
