|
|
For the final exam my school made a question like this:
Complete the telephone conversation.
Anna) Hello, May I speak to Bob please?
a) Speaking.
b) Sure, one moment please.
c) This is speaking.
d) One moment please.
e) Hello, this is Bob.
The incorrect answer is c, however one teacher is certain this is not incorrect. I am not well versed in grammar-fu, what can I tell her to soothe her concerns? |

I realize that this is tertiary, but...
Your school has final exam multiple-choice questions where there is only a single incorrect answer? Is that standard? |

| Yes, it's standard. I think these types of questions are purposeful. |

That means you can get 80% without looking at the answers |

Here's the thing: I could Christmas-tree my tests, back when it was 1/4 (so 25% would be the estimated ratio from all random guessing) and still end up with 50-60%, far higher than what the average should have been.
With an 80% base natural rate, I could probably achieve an otherwise statistically impossible 110% correct after we factor in my unnatural luck! |
