My co-teacher and I teach 10 classes separately, 5 on each day. One class comes during the 4th and 5th class periods because one of them is supposed to be for middle school preparation.

They don't want to stay the whole class period because a student in the other 5th period class apparently hits them. All my co-teacher says is, "She is strong, so let them leave early".

While this is not being addressed, we have another student in that same class who doesn't come until 40 minutes into the 50 minute class. I had the idea that if they really want to let this class that comes for the 4th and 5th class periods leave early, then why not have the student who comes late meet with the same teacher instead of interrupting his "assigned" class.

What happens is, he will come in and the other students obviously don't want to study because they feel they have done more work than him. I get them all finished before he comes, and I let them leave early. Then, I teach him individually and bring him up to speed.

My co-teacher told me that he may not like this idea. I asked why, and she said he may not want to come, but he has to come. Yea, so, why don't we have him come in and meet with the teacher who is letting students leave early so they don't get hit by some menacing 5th grader who throws a hard punch?

All this avoiding conflict has become bizarre beyond anything I have experienced, yet my co-teacher tells me my ideas are good while not implementing any of them.

Do any of you have similar issues, and do you simply ignore it and go with the flow, or do you actually try to resolve the issues?
