or so according to the Mayans.
So, are you a believer? Do you think we are out of gas come December 21st, 2012?
Here's a nice piece of reading for you.

Speaking of 2012, I wonder if the movie is coming to K-land. |

Why would I believe that a dead civilization that was incredibly inferior to modern civilization (in terms of technology) would know when the world will end? |

Seriously. Everyone talks about how incredible their astronomy was, but ours far exceeds theirs, and we haven't seen anything that makes us feel like the world will end in 2012. |

All of you are being mislead by a silly false premise. The Mayans did not believe the world would end in 2012. This was merely when their calendar reset. So, they considered 2012 to be a new beginning of sorts as opposed to some apocalypse which is really a Western idea.

The Mesoamerican Long Count calendar forms the basis for a New Age belief, first forecast by Jos Argelles, that a cataclysm will take place on or about December 21, 2012, a forecast that mainstream Mayanist scholars consider a misinterpretation, yet is commonly referenced in pop-culture media as the 2012 problem.
For example, Sandra Noble, executive director of the Mesoamerican research organization FAMSI, notes that "for the ancient Maya, it was a huge celebration to make it to the end of a whole cycle". However, she considers the portrayal of December 2012 as a doomsday or cosmic-shift event to be "a complete fabrication and a chance for a lot of people to cash in." |

my question is.. if NASA did see a huge meteor heading to earth and it was gonna do serious damage would they actually tell us?
you know to prevent world panic and stuff...
if was gonna end or something like that it would probably be best for it to be quick and without knowing.. |

Asteroid blast reveals holes in Earth's defences
22:54 26 October 2009 by David Shiga

As the US government ponders a strategy to deal with threatening asteroids, a dramatic explosion over Indonesia has underscored how blind we still are to hurtling space rocks.
On 8 October an asteroid detonated high in the atmosphere above South Sulawesi, Indonesia, releasing about as much energy as 50,000 tons of TNT, according to a NASA estimate released on Friday. That's about three times more powerful than the atomic bomb that levelled Hiroshima, making it one of the largest asteroid explosions ever observed.
However, the blast caused no damage on the ground because of the high altitude, 15 to 20 kilometres above Earth's surface, says astronomer Peter Brown of the University of Western Ontario (UWO), Canada.
Brown and Elizabeth Silber, also of UWO, estimated the explosion energy from infrasound waves that rippled halfway around the world and were recorded by an international network of instruments that listens for nuclear explosions.
The explosion was heard by witnesses in Indonesia. Video images of the sky following the event show a dust trail characteristic of an exploding asteroid. |
Indo schoolkids in the link were terrified.

Yes, Goldblum would need Will Smith as a partner to be effective. I think that would blow the budget. We would have to cancel the open armageddon bar.
We could probably get Ben Browder and Claudia Black for a steal. |
