|
|
| Has anyone ever taken a pet back with them on vacation? I went home for a 7 weeks over the summer and paid about $700 in kennel fees. Not to mention my dog was slightly off for a few weeks once I got her back. Now I am planning on going home over Xmas to see the family and am thinking I may take the poochie with me and possibly get a family member or friend to adopt her. |

| Go to the vet, have them checked out and microchip'd, and you'll be fine. It's a lot easier than in most countries. |

| Or you could try to find a pet sitter? |

| OK, so I leave for Xmas vacation on the 20th and I just got the dog which is supposed to go with me spayed last night. Is this likely to cause a problem for the flight? I didn't realize that she might have to wear that collar... collar and kennel together would make for a very long and unpleasant flight I think. |

i suggest a petsitter. i think it's a lot easier on pets, especially one recovering from surgery, to be in someone's home instead of a busy kennel with a bunch of other animals. i hate leaving my pet in a kennel back home, and i can imagine they're even worse here. |

By kennel I mean travel kennel. I don't know what I'm doing next year and may end up changing countries so I'm taking her to a new home in the US. |

Yikes! Oops! Doh!

I know the little critter is healthy. She's lived with me for about a year now. I didn't realize that the vaccination had to be done so far in advance of traveling.
There's "Confinement agreement" link on the above page but somehow I doubt this means one is OK to keep the dog in their home until the 30 days has expired. Her shot was on the 8th, so that means she will have to be confined for 18 days when I return to the US.
Does anyone have experience with this? Please chime in if you do. I'll be flying into Minneapolis and then catching a shuttle to rural Wisconsin. I really don't want to have leave her in a kennel in Minnesota. |
