I'm sure that this has been covered before, but wrestling with the Boolean operators in Dave's search engine is lending to my face a frightful colour. I'll ask plainly.
Here's the question: Does having teacher certification in your home country help one to get a better paying job? |

Yes and No.
Right now the market is so saturated that you need a masters to get into a university so you would probably get consideration for many more jobs than you normally would but it doesn't necessarily mean you will get the best paying jobs. In terms of public schools i think it puts you at 2.2 or so. |

2.2 what? Quid per hour?
Seriously, though, it seems that my cert gets me more offers when they (whomever they may be) actually read my CV and realise that I have it.
I just wonder what that's about. |

Short answer: Yes, if you are looking for a your basic teaching job, not a uni position.
It bumps you up to around ~2.2 million won / month, and I think 2/+2 level on the GEPIK / EPIK / SMOE salary charts.
Teaching certifications, high standardized test scores, prestigious university degree are all factors that not only help get you better positions, but help get your foot firmly in the door in a market as saturated as this. It helps give you an edge.
Just don't expect a university to be impressed. |

I don't expect that. Hell, I'm pretty unimpressed with myself as it is.

| Then yes, it should increase whatever base salary you would have by about 100,000-200,000 won/month |
