Hey guys, I'm moving to Busan in February and I don't have a laptop atm, just a clunky old desktop. I'm wondering if I should buy a laptop and bring it with me, or wait until I get there to buy a computer? And if I do buy one there, is there any reason to prefer a desktop or a laptop?
Some info about me:
-I don't need anything super high-capacity, but I do like to watch movies and play games, and I have a LOT of music (I keep most of it in an external hard drive, but it overflows some).
-I don't have a laptop at college, and I don't miss it. There are several computer labs on campus, and if I need to transfer documents I just e-mail them to myself. Considering the fact that I will probably have a computer at work and the prevalence of PC bangs, I would probably prefer a desktop over a laptop. Is there anything that I'm not considering?
-I want an English operating system & keyboard if possible. How hard is that to find?
Thank you for your help and advice! |

My school bought a lap-top for my use (and the future NET's use) a brand new Toshiba. It was 1,400,000 won.
Power plugs in Korea are two circular pins.
I think Korean mains are 220 volts. |

You should post this in the tech forum. That place is swimming with nerds who will give you snarky comments but some good advice, too.
I think the consensus is it's best to buy a laptop in your home country. Laptops, especially, are really expensive in the department stores, here. They are slightly cheaper if you buy it online but you won't want to be faffing about with that when you have just got here.
My recommendation for a traveling laptop is to get a net book. They have 10 inch screens and are really light. Asus make the best ones and there are heaps of options now. |

I think its pretty unlikely that the school will provide you with a computer.
Probably be better off buying a desktop when you are here. Legit copies Windows OS can be hard to find here, perhaps bring one with you if you want a legit copy. Other options are Linux (free) or bootleg windows, (20k or free) |
