Farewell to Busan's bar Cuba.

I was there so rarely...Poo Da Dak nearby...old days of chess with Violin Patrick and good talk with the Greekfreak of the pen and pad.

Ben with Mojo at Monk. James with words of wisdom at the bar. Dong-Ha with drinks a'plenty in a trio of spots nearby. And if you were lucky you got Ken on the guitar with the drummer from Seoul.

Lost days, first at Crossroads...then Camel...then Cuba...and whence next?

"Korea's Sexiest Bartender," some say, but that is borderline crass. N-H always greeted customers with politeness and cheers, served them in kind, and was easy to talk to. Did many fall for her? Sure. But any who cared didn't show it, lest she be made to feel uncomfortable.

My very first visit to Crossroads had me pull open the door and be greeted by N-H. The rickety computer that would sometimes work, and the men's room with the busted handle.

Some might even remember "the Cannon" (name disguised in a round-about fashion) with his dog from the Caribbean. Good old times, they were.

Drink is in me and memory, too. Cuba, farewell, and on to the next, let's do.

Canuck: you have me at a disadvantage, sir/ma'am. PM your true identity if you dare.

Anyway a great (and sad) night was had by most, and my credit card took a beating, but it was for a good cause.

Thanks for the memories!

It was a good farewell party.

My beloved PNU is slowly being robbed of good places to hang out.
It's not the hot spot that it was in days of yore. That has been taken
over by Kyungsungdae.

Nothing beats the old days at Crossroads with NH & JH behind the bar
and friends abound!

I messaged you on Facebook, Greekfreak. Please forward it to Benicio so that he knows the score.

Was it a crowded night? I really wanted to be there but I couldn't get down from Seoul.

Is NH going to open a new place or just rest for a while?

And Benicio, I feel where you're coming from re: PNU area. I loved that place when I lived in Busan back in 2001. I met a lot of good folks and if I could, I'd live and work there instead of here in Seoul. I miss the easy camaraderie and manners and openness we seemed to have had with each other, even though I was just an acquaintance of most of "the regular crowd" back in the day. If the school I worked for hadn't imploded I would have stayed there and loved it!

Perhaps I'll coordinate a visit through Greekfreak (whom I last bumped into at Helios here in Seoul a year or two back) once the winter breaks. Is Mojo still playing? Anyone still play chess at Crossroads? Is Poo Da Dak even there anymore?

Will tell what's going on in Busan these days

Mojo folded a few years ago and is now One Drop East.

Poodadak sold and is now a run of the mill chicken joint- not good anymore.

We've got a pretty good taco joint nearby Crossroads, though.

Should come down for a visit!
