|

Hi folks,
I'm waiting on a visa to arrive and then will be having a flight booked to Korea. I'll be flying from London and am unsure how much baggage I'm allowed. Some of the airline websites are a bit ambiguous. I was hoping to take two bags, weighing under 30 kg... is this likely to be okay?
Hope you can help! |

All the flights I've taken have been 20-22 kgs checked baggage, and then one smallish sized carry on. I tried to be a smartar#@ last time by filling up my carry one with all the heavy stuff. First thing they (Cathay Pacific) did was weigh my carry on! NO! the limit was 5kgs and the thing weighed 11kgs.
Being a foreigner, and because I was taking a bike home, they let me off easily with being just 2 kgs over, they could have made me pay 10 kgs over.
You can always send stuff over by boat later if need be. |

The North american system is either 2 bags of 22 kg each or 2 bags of 32kg each. (Not from there so if I am off feel free to correct me)
Everywhere else in the world it is as many bags as you want to a total combined weight of 20-22 kg. While i have been given leeway in the past don't count on it.
What airline are you flying? You should only be checking your own airline as each one can be slightly different |

I dont think its the number of bags within reason but the weight and 22kgs is not a lot (about one medium size suitcase), Korean Air is 20kgs however the mrs flew with Emirates and their limit is 30kgs so may be worth a look. |

It depends on which airline you are using...
I fly from Ireland, I use Lufthansa who allow an extra bag for "sporting equipment", otherwise it one bag weighing 20kgs.
I think Emirates let you have 30kgs, but I also think its only in one bag...
I too got stung by trying to stuff as much crap into a carry-on bag. Fee = Ouch.
Best to check the in's and out's on your airlines website. |
