| Opening in March, near Lotte Department Store....hard for me to give exact directions in Myeongdong. |

...and if anything in this store costs more than 50,000 won I'm walking right back out the door. |

| I typically dress like a slob (sorry MateoMiguel) and spend as little money as possible on clothing, but I enjoy H & M for some reason--so I would also appreciate info on its opening. |

| Like all the other "cheap" brands back home. I think this one will command premium pricing in Korea. |

I'm a big fan of H&M's clothing....have followed previous threads about them on here. Everyone has a different opinion. Will it be way more expensive here? Will there be Western sizes? Etc etc etc.
I, of course, am hoping for the best (cheap and western sizes)....but we will all have to wait and see. Meanwhile I'm going to Dubai over X-mas break, there are 3 H&M's there and I'm going to stock UP!! |

Perhaps someone with more background information in this topic can chime in but it seems like only American brands get the premium pricing here in Korea. Look at the stuff European at ALand in Myeongdong or Japanese-owned Uniqlo. Both maintain their international prices (high and low in these particular cases) where as stores like the Gap see a 60-100% mark up.
I've got a feeling that since H&M's home office is outside of the United States that the prices ought to stay consistent with what we're already used to.
PS. Before you bring up Forever21 remember it is owned by a Korean. Exceptions can always be made. |

It will be in the building with the CGV along the main strip opposite lotte dept. and young plaza.
The building is across from Burger king and Les More if i remember correctly. |

Figures, didn't know Zara or Mango were international brands.
Well, I think my question still stands, can someone with more background information on this topic chime in about why some stores see a huge increase in prices and others don't? |

The Zara found is a pretty interesting character. Aramancio Ortega Gaona, 10th richest man in the world according to Forbes. I wonder what percentage of his fortune has come from Koreans paying exorbitant prices for his clothing of moderate quality. |

| zara is ridiculously priced! i went in there looking for a jacket and found the most flimsy, albeit nice-looking, jackets for almost 200,000 won. while at forever 21, they had the same flimsy, nice-looking jackets for less than half that. |

I actually bought one of those flimsy jackets from Zara. Gotta say, yeah, they look flimsy, but the one I have has been keeping me damned warm so far. The only part of my body that's cold are my hands because I don't have gloves yet  . |
