This is what I found online:

I am living in Seoul, South Korea so i will use the N97 as my personal phone assuming it passes the KCC (FCC for the USA) tests. You can bring any phone to Korea if it works with their frequencies and use it for a fee. You pay the KCC around 150,000 won - 300,000 won ($130 - $285 - give or take), they test it, and if it's approved they will give you a certificate, which you can then take to the cell phone store and they will activate it for you.

Anyone tried this? I really wanna get an n900 here in Korea! Surprised

^ completely untrue.

iphone certification takes one month. if you are willing to pay an extra 200,000 won, then it only takes one week.

Oh snap! So you can certify any phone that is compatible with the frequencies they use here? N900, here I come! For the people who are considering getting an N900, don't pay retail price! Amazon has had it for as low as $420 after rebates (about a month ago). Dell frequently has good deals on phones, too. That price is for a factory unlocked and unsubsidized phone!

Is anybody able to confirm that you can certify any phone? *crosses fingers*
