If you never came back to Korea, or Asia, what holiday, tourist site is the most memorable? What would you say to never leave without seeing?? What let you down??

For me the top site was the terracotta soldiers in China. I have never felt that close to history, and the fact that its not behind glass, that you can actually smell the clay, made it an unbelievable experience.

My worst was the great wall. The great wall didnt feel authentic, and it was a very polluted day so i didnt get the awesome views i expected. I guess i just built up too much hype.

for me one of them is the great wall, but you have to go to the right sections. badaling is a joke. simatai, jinshanling, jiankou, and mutianyu are places to see the wall, and not many people, if any.

Angkor Wat is probably the greatest man made thing you can ever see.

Angkor Wat was the most amazing thing- MUST SEE!

The Forbidden City in Beijing was really good.

The Great Wall at Badaling is a tourist trap- it's all new brick.

Gotta check out other sections that don't seem like a Disney version.

Ho Chi Minh City was a disappointment- nothing much there.
Manila is a crap hole.
Borocay Island in the Philippines was beautiful, but is quickly being destroyed by over-development and hordes of Korean & Chinese tourists.

Bali has some cool spots, but Kuta Beach is a terrible tourist trap full of 20 year old Australians.

I have never been to Laos, but everyone I know who has just raves about it. I've never heard a bad word about it.

The Best:

Taj Mahal
Great Wall at Simatai
Polata Palace
Datong Grottoes, if you like grottoes
Tokyo for shopping
Beijing Summer Palace if it is snowing
Angkor Watt
Terracotta Warriors
Hong Kong for food

The Worst:

The rest of India
Thailand if you dont like beaches, hiking or hookers
Forbidden city, seen one building you have seen them all
Paju
Jeju if you don't have a car
Joha Baru
Hawa Mahal

In defense of Thailand, Sukhothai was pretty amazing and not a beach or hooker to be found.

The terra cotta warriors at Xian. I saw the Great Wall at Simatai, and it was cool and all, but the warriors were far more interesting.

Sigiriya in Srilanka was also very cool, as was the whole country really.

For the most disappointing I have to say the great wall. I saw it at two points. Matianyu and Shanhaiguan. It is cool as a concept but the actual wall is nothing special to see. It is really over-hyped.
For my favorite I really liked Yunnan province in China.

Total opposite for me:

terra cotta warriors sucked....I had more fun renting a local motorbike and riding around the complex. Biggest disappointment and lamest part of my china trip....

As for the great wall...chances are you went to the tourist sections...

The best part is shimitai where you do the 7 mile hike....it's about as polluted as yellow stone national park....they're is litterally nothing out there except you and hikers along with a few bottle sellers and construction workers.

Everyone is ranting about Angor Wat, and while it is very impressive, it has become a brutal tourist trap.
I've never seen so much disrespect and hostility towards foreigners, as what goes on in Angor Wat.

I saw a scarf seller following a group of tourists and hassling them to buy.
When she saw it was useless, she yelled "I'm going to kill you, I'm going to kill you" then casually turned her back to find someone else to harass.
Everyone within earshot was dumbstruck.

Its probably the only place I'd recommend you go with a package tour.
