Has anyone used their American (or other foreign) credit card at Emart or Homeplus before? Did you have to do anything special, or did you just hand the clerk your card and sign a paper like back home?
I've never used my American card in Korea before, except for online purchases, so if there's anything I should know, please tell me (I do know to notify my credit card company that I'm using the card overseas). |

| With most card companies, all you have to do is call the international 800 number on the back and tell the rep that you would like to use your card overseas. Make sure you ask them how long it takes for the change to be in effect and how long it lasts for. Find out if there are any fees associated with using the card as well. |

I used mine at Lotte Mart and Home plus a few months ago not a problem. I just signed the slip like normal  |

Actually, I once got phone call at a strange time in the morning one time from my parents. My parents were all freaked out saying that the bank called to confirm if I was overseas or not, and that there was a charge on it from Korea, and that they were going to freeze my card. So I called the bank pronto, telling them it was okay and to okay further transactions.
Strange thing is that for my other 2 cards I never heard a peep from the bank. |
