In order to get your ARC do you need to give up your passport for some period of time for bureaucratic reasons?

if not how do you get your arc or what are the steps to get it after you arrive.

I don't have a job in Korea yet - just wondering what the ARC card process is like - this was a concern of mine.

don't worry about immigration holding your passport. i've been through the process 3 times, and all 3 times immi has sent me back my passport in a very timely manner. i don't believe there's any other way to get your ARC.

i'd be more worried that a crappy boss might try to hold onto my passport once immi has sent it out. i wouldn't send it to your home address because most (?) apartment boxes here don't have a lock.

process:
-get your medical check in korea at a designated hospital
-they will most likely send those results to you or have you pick them up
-take them to immi with someone from your school who should have the appropriate employment letter for immi
-you should bring a copy of your contract, some passport photos, money to pay for a single/multi-entry visa stamp, and the medical check

i don't think i forgot anything... you do have 90 days i believe to get your ARC, however you should be aware you can't get your national health insurance until you do, so it's best done asap.

You can return to immi once the process is completed and collect you documents in person.
