|
|
My phone is having trouble connecting to my computer because the drivers might be only for Korean computers or computers that can understand Korean, or I've installed the wrong drivers.
Any way, I have an external memory card that I'm able to just copy and paste movie files onto my phone (Amoled) and it works on my phone. When I do the same for MP3s, my phone doesn't recognize it. Do I need to convert my mp3 files into a different audio file?
This is really f-ing annoying since I've had no music to listen to on 1-2 hr subway and bus rides since losing my iPod last week.
I have plenty of space with my 8 GB external memory. |

Yes, with OZ/LG.
I re-downloaded the drivers and PC Studio straight from Anycall's website. I used to get it to work, and now it doesn't. I think this occurred from installing a new PC Studio.
It's ridiculous that it just doesn't straight play MP3s. It's not a crazy file or anything... Especially when the phone itself has a folder called "mp3". |

IF its not playing then you probably have to convert the MP3 to a proprietary format.
For example, My old motorola phone would not play MP3's unless I used Melon Player to convert the MP3's to a DCF format. |

But if memory serves me right, Melon Player only works with SK telecom phones. We're on Oz/LG... |

Welcome to Korea, where an MP3-capable phone can't play an MP3.
Before I had my iPhone I used a crappy Samsung. In order to get ringtones on it I had to:
1. convert mp3 to .mp4 (128K/sec, stereo)
2. copy file to specific directory on microSD card
3. copy file from card to phone
4. set ringtone as that file
I couldn't figure out how to actually play MP3 files on it, though. |

The Anycall PC manager stuff is just garbage, I haven't been able to successfully use it since I had a first install in 2006 on an older computer.
I know what you mean about movie files. I found it easy enough to take .3gp files and rename them .k3g ( i think those are the right extensions) but i was never able to figure out the mp3 system.
It probably is a proprietary file extension that needs to be used.
I wish i could be more help |

I'm just saying, you will probably have to convert the MP3's to a proprietary format. I was using my Motorola and Melon Player as an Example. I'm fairly certain LG and Show also have their own proprietary so that they can milk as much money from their customers as possible. |

| Ok, I have found that I need to convert mp3 files into .smp files. I've Googled for converters but have had no luck. Does anyone know of any mp3 to .smp converters? |

I believe the companies want you to pay to download them.
I tried on my last phone, but it was an obscure file format like .gof or something. I used my regurlar converter called 'super' from erightsoft.com, but it doesn't look like it does your conversion either.
Missing codecs and stuff prevented me having any success, so I decided to save phone battery power for calls. |

What is the player on the phone that plays the mp3's? Most likely the player on the phone has a name. You may have to download that players pc client to convert mp3's. The don't make it easy. With melon, you can only convert 1 file at a time. You got 1000 song, then you gotta do them one at a time. No batch convert. With melon Player there is a workaround called automelon.
My point for those without melon, there is proprietary software for your pc for your particular model of phone. Download it to pc and your option to convert mp3 will most likely be in there. |
