|
|
I feel like I am reading conflicting information at this point. Was there a rule change recently? Does the degree absolutely need an apostille?
I have had two E2 visas so far, one was in 2007 before the Nov. 15 rule changes and the second toward the end of 2008. In both instances I just submitted an original copy of my degree, it did not have an apostille or any notarization. Is this no longer sufficient? |

While I'm at it, I might as well as this too:
I am not in Korea or my home country at the moment. When my transcripts were sent in the mail, the envelopes were opened by customs. There was also no stamp on the back of the envelopes. Is this going to be a problem? I feel like I have heard stories about the schools opening transcripts on their own so that this wouldnt be a big issue. |

I don't know about the degree. I am curious about that also, because I have read different things than what I experienced my last contract. I always just used original diploma. I don't see why I would get an apostle on the back of my document. I didn't pay 25$ for it so that I could have some crappy stamp ruin it.
As for the transcripts. I can answer that with certainty. You must have sealed documents. They must be in an envelope from the University and not opened.
Why would customs open a letter? Sounds strange to me. What I would suggest is to get your university to send you about 5 copies that are individually sealed but all in a large envelope. That way you have some extras. |

Frank, $25 is nothing ...when I first went to Korea in 2000 I send my orig. degree to my local consulate rather than an embassy and it came back with some fkkers CHOP ON IT. I rang him (natch it was a him/Kim) and gave him both barrels! I spent $40k and 4 years on this, took it outta its frame, AND YOU THINK YOU CAN CHOP IT?!!! I almost felt relieved when my crappy hoggie "lost" (why you not lenew contlact?? you bad feeling) the bloody thing so I could order another. Rerax. |

I think it depends. EPIK told me to get an apostillised copy, The uni that I'll be working with wants the orginal, no apostille needed. BUT I'm getting it anyways. |
