I want to have a good mag or newspaper delivered overseas to Korea. Anyone know of any cost-effective ways of doing so? The prices I've seen online are pretty steep.
I have seen some places in Korea that photocopy overseas papers, but I'd rather get the real thing. Online news is obviously out as well.
I'd be most interested in North American papers like New York Times, Washington Post, or The Globe and Mail, even if it's just the weekend edition. But I wouldn't mind a magazine like Time, Newsweek, Wired, etc. |

The Economist is about 250,000 per year and is printed in Seoul. |

That is not cheap. More expensive than in Britain! But I think it's worth every penny. |

Not cheap. I get it in a few days down in Busan, though. Beats the cover price, too. 8500 won. Love reading it. 60-70% of it is just politics and stuff, which I only figured out this year. I was a Globe and Mail guy, but CTV (their owner) is so untrustworthy. |

It's not cheap, but I use this website: http://www.publications.co.kr/
You don't have to subscribe to a magazine, you can just order them individually if you want.
Also, they have a huge range. They even have all of the magazines that I might read from back home in Britain.
I hope this helps. Please let us know if you find a better source. |

I get Newsweek and it's not cheap. But it is a good deal compared to the bookstore prices when you do the math. |

The OP said they weren't interested in online but that's the way to go these days. I can't wait to try out my Kindle overseas!

I understand now most newspapers put out kindle versions...how are those? I've thought about getting a Kindle for living in Korea. I know the wireless won't work, but I figure I can download books online then connect them to the kindle via USB, right?
Sorry for the hijack... |

Try www.whatthebook.com for mag subscriptions. Last time I checked they were cheaper than ordering a subscription overseas. I think they're still steep but sometimes here we end up paying more for things we really want. |

Actually, the Kindle worked for me in the Republic of Georgia. It just needs the 3G network. Otherwise, you could connect it to your computer as you said.
Yes, most major newspapers have the online version and work quite well with the kindle.

The people from Time magazine came to our university to try and sign up students. My coworker told the representative "You can talk to my students for five minutes of my class if you give me a free subscription". So he got a free subscription to Time. I don't like Time that much, but I am still kind of jealous.. I'm hoping the magazine people come again next semester.. |
