Hi. I would like to hear about your experiences with the following - I am working at a public school. The end date of my contract is the 24th of February 2010. According to my GEPIK contract, I have to let the school know if I wish to stay for another year (or they will let me know) 2 months before the end of my contract. I have let the school known, in writing, that I wish to stay for another year - (December 23rd). They did not let me know yet if they want me to stay or they want me to go. When will they possibly tell me. I would like to know because if they want me to go, then I have to find another job (here in Korea or in South Africa).
Like I said, they did not say anything yet. Is it a case of no news is good news ? Should I possibly get my resume ready to look for other jobs ? Those who have gone throught this process, did your school also do the last minute thing - let you know only a few days before departure etc. ?
I will appreciate it if you could respond.
Thanks.

What's your relationship with your administration? If it's good, I don't think you have to worry if they're a bit late. If yours is bad or non-existent, I'd start preparing my resume and looking for another job just in case. Obviously, don't use your school time to do it and don't tell anybody that you are doing it.

Always have a contingency plan. This is life and treat it as a dead end. Make them come to you. If you have to come to them, then you are dispensable. If you don't mind being dispensable, then acquiesce. Otherwise, why think it's Korea or SA? You have no other alternatives? Really?
