After reading previous posts and researching the goods and bads through various publications, I am interested in visiting Myanmar. Does anyone have any insight on when exactly the elections will take place? All I can find on the internet is "early 2010"... I've a vacation in mid-January and am strongly considering visiting Myanmar, but I want to make sure the elections don't coinside with my trip. Many thanks for any input you might have! Happy holidays.

I can't say for sure, but its probably because the Military Junta that rule the country are waiting for the opportune moment for running the elections. And by opportune moment, I mean when they are least likely to face the most opposition from within the country, and from countries pressuring them to be more tolerant.
