I installed Win 7 maybe a week or 2 ago and ever since I did my internet has been going out. If you "diagnose the problem" or restart the internet works properly again. When the problem is fixed it says "the default gateway was not available? Its frickin annoying. I dont know if it's win 7 or not, but ive only now begun having this issue. Anyone else? Is there a resolution?

This might be a problem with your nforce drivers (motherboard drivers). Do you have an nforce motherboard?

If so, don't use the default windows drivers, but go to the manufacturer site and download the nforce drivers there.

I'm fairly convinced its an ethernet driver issue.

If installing the install package of the nforce drivers doesn't solve the issue, download the nforce drivers (the ethernet driver is the one you need), extract the folder and then go to my computer/system properties/device manager/network adapters...look for the ethernet controller (I'm betting it's an nforce one.) right click/update driver software then choose the extracted ethernet driver. Restart, now see if it keeps dropping.

There's more about this problem here: http://www.sevenforums.com/hardware-devices/3017-nvidia-network-cards-win-7-a.html

I've seen that problem on an XP machine before. The issue was actually with the DLink router I had. I ended up having to switch from WPA to WEP security, and at the time, that seemed to fix the issue (if I remember correctly).

I'll tell you my problem with win7 - the damn quicklaunch toolbar disappearing every time I restart. It's getting real real annoying.

jonbowman, do you happen to have photoshop installed? there's a glitch with one of the programs that gets installed with photoshop called bonjour. it causes your internet to go out everytime you start up your comp.

if you have it installed, try looking it up online. I had this problem as well, but getting rid of bonjour fixed it.

That one is weird. I'd do a reinstall, to tell you the truth. I was having some odd issues, and a reinstall cleared them up. For some reason, my icons would not appear on the desktop when I saved stuff there (not until I refreshed the screen). After a reinstallation, all is well.

Win 7 is not the perfect OS that it's made out to be....like any new OS, it has bugs. The IE shutting down is a widespread W7 bug that MS is working on. It'll be fixed soon.

I'm using W7 now (pirate Ultimate version) and I don't get the IE bug...my wife is using a legit Home Premium version on her laptop and she does get the bug........just goes to show. A lot of people have a mis-conception that pirated software doesn't work as well as legit software........I beg to differ.....

That might be the case. My desktop is 64-bit W7 Ultimate. Wife's laptop is 32-bit Home Premium. That might be a factor. Not sure.

Nah, man, it's a known issue, especially when using the language toolbar at the same time. But, alas, there's no cure as of yet.
