Any suggestions on how to get the Korean Consulate in Chicago to do an online (MSN Live or Skype) interview for an E-2 visa.
I live in central Kansas. This means two days of driving just to get there. OR a $300 plane ticket.
Expensive visa.

| Has the CHicago consulate agreed to do it online? Is it your first E2 visa? I think that if you're getting it for the second time, you can just mail it. |

This is my first E-2.
I have read here on Dave's that others were able to get an online interview. When I called with my visa issuance number, they said that everyone MUST come to the consulate.
I was wondering how those who got the online did it. |

| They made me come in and I live in Minnesota. Pain in the ass. My school told me they would do a web cam interview, but when I called the lady said I was not far enough away. I would call and ask how far you need to be for the webcam interview. I stayed with friends but the train ticket and spending cash put me over $200. |

I was able to interview online with the chicago consulate.
I lived in Springfield, MO (approx 9 hours, driving). But I also had very little time before my flight. I received my visa number on December 12 and my departure date was supposed to be the 28th, so maybe the time was a factor in letting me interview online.
I can't say for sure. I called to schedule the interview, fully expecting to buy a plane ticket, but.. surprise! I did it online.
So.. I hope it works out for you! Good luck! |

The chicago interview is a joke.
They put you through crazy hoops, only to interview you at the same time as other people, for less than a minute.
It was literally me and my girlfriend being asked the same questions by the same interviewer at the same time, and our answers meant nothing.
We had to drive and travel by train for days from Iowa. |
