Ok, well we have just had a 103 year record snow event in Seoul, the kind that takes forecasters by surprise, however what I'd like to explain is the sheer lack of planning the School districts had in dealing with this utter mess this morning!
We had 35cm in this section of Seoul today and by allowing students to come to school put all of our students lives at risk, considering how poorly the transportation infrastructure was made for an SERIOUS event like this.
I am walking to school and about 5 of my students are nearly run over by an asshat taxi drive who drives clean through a red light than rear-ends a city bus, then the Taxi driver and bus drive start punching each other out in front of a bunch of cops. Great entertainment along with the snow. Red and white contrast each other well, don't you think?

I phoned my Co-teacher at 8:45am and tell her that she should phone this kids and tell them not to come to school as they are mostly coming from Gyeongi-do, she tells me that the camp is more important. I kindly tell her that if any children are hurt I won't be the getting sued in court. She tells me that the District never closes schools for snow as it isn't cost effective.
Hah.... tell that to the injured students parents!

I live near Hoegi station, and school is near Guri station.

Took me 3 hours to get to work (usually 50 minutes to the uni). If it snows tonight, I'll cancel class tomorrow. No way I'm going through that squash on the subway again!

I teach a winter term class at uni and I got a bunch of texts from students saying the usual. I go to class and over half my students are there. WTF? Where's my snow day?

Thanks to inept weather forecasting, and timing! This one hit just as people were leaving for school and nobody knew what to expect. If it had happened a few hours earlier, you might have seen more cancellations.

Here in Bu Yeo Gun, I had to report for work. The roads were not well plowed. The bus driver drove safely. So, I made it to school only 15 minutes later than usual. Of course, I was told at 10am that I could go home.

I was 10 minutes late for school as I walked instead of taking the bus. No big deal. Some of the students were late.

I don't understand why some people are wanting classes canceled because a little bit of snow. What wimps!

My hagwon was closed yesterday, but I guess we're open tonight, even tho conditions aren't much better on the streets.

last june there was quite the flood in my area. People still had to wade (waist high) to school. A bit of snow aint no thing in the jeollanamdo!

There were more students today than yesterday. I don't care because I live 5 mins from my uni, but some of these kids travel 3-4 hours.

I have had 2 days cancelled. It'd better be on for tomorrow, as I'll have to make them up later anyways.
