I am moving to Korea in 2 months. The internet is super fast, so what is the best way to utilize this to download files. I do not know the internet laws in korea. Do people torrent or is there some cheap service that lets you download movies and music?

Torrents.

The internet is one of the best things about Korea. Sad, really.

There are torrents. There are also Korean-run, pay download sites that get you ridiculously fast speeds (I've seen students download a 1.4GB movie in about one minute on filenori). I don't mind not paying and waiting a few more minutes.

Haha, I've seen 4MB a second on popular torrents on the public trackers. That is probably 4 minutes as opposed to 2 minutes.

What's a good private site for 1080p files? I just joined demonoid a few days back and it's taking me literally days to download blueray rips (Shaun of the Dead, started sunday, just finished today, 8.1 gigs or so). My ratio is about 4.0 at the moment simply because I find very few seeders with a connection as fast as South Korea.

Internet speed depends on what ISP you sign up with, and where you live. I made the mistake of signing up with KT, and get about 300kps. This they call high speed internet? KT refused to install fiberoptics in the neighborhood, saying it was too much trouble. So I have a copper wire connection. My neighbor has a cable TV internet connection and gets blazing speed.

You generally only get 1mps + speed if you are getting a feed from a Korean source, or other high speed neighboring Asian source, usually.
