OK, i'm going to Shanghai for New Years. I'm wondering if anyone could offer advice as to what to do there... I'll be there for four days and will be able to do numerous things. My hotel is in "The Bund" near the peoples square. Any advice on what is cool would be appreciated. I just picked Shanghai on a whim. Also, what about money there. Can I use an american ATM card there? I have a KEB account with an international check card (Visa). Any info would be sweet. I've done a little research but it just seems like there is soooooooo much to do I don't know what to do. I love art, museums, people gazing, coffee, shopping, historic stuff, skyscrapers, architecture, etc. I also want to go out on New Years. Got any suggestions? Thanks.

You should be able to use your international bank card at any Bank of China bank machine. Beware that some of the machines might not work if they aren't in areas where foreigners frequent.

What to do?

I went to the museum, the two tall towers in Pudong, took a river cruise, went shopping, ate, ate and ate some more. I also headed out to Ikea which is pretty far from the Bund, but it was worth the trip.

If you are into photography there are tons of spots you can visit for great shots. Sorry I can't recall all the places I went to.

I especially enjoyed shopping at Decathlon store in Shanghai.
I happened upon a Decathlon store and now I see there are multiple locations in Shanghai.
