I came back from a perfect vacation in Japan to see an email from my co-teacher. "The bulls*** start immediately." I thought to myself.
To my surprise it's a questionnaire from my district and SMOE about my feelings about the school, district, housing, students, co-teachers, job duties, etc.
It's no secret I have beef but I answered the questions honestly and not everything was negative.
I was told to send it back by email. At that time I thought to myself, send it back as a PDF, so the answers can't be changed. But then I though that would just create more problems, so I sent it as is.
Sure enough, this morning, on my day off, I am called into to work to "discuss" something. What can it be? Why, the questionnaire of course. It is then that I am "convinced" that all of my negative answers were mistakes and that I must have meant to put higher marks but misunderstood the questionnaire layout or the meaning of the question.
Whatever, I wanna go back home and sleep. I let them win the battle. I know what I put and they know I know what I put and they know that I know that they know.
The thing that bugs me is, I knew that this was gonna happen. Come on now Korea, you can be a little bit more spontaneous than this.
Another thing, changing students answers to raise their scores, alright, I don't like it, but that doesn't affect me. Changing my own answers to save this crappy school's/district's/company's face. Ah hell nah!

So you effectively will make it look like everything is your fault when they tell the school district they don't want to renew you. They will now cut you down to the district.
I would have told them tough cookies and sent it as is. Really disappointing you weren't honest.

Yeah, I'm disappointed in myself as well.
Thing was, the Japan trip was a favor, I had to take 3 vacation days during the "semester" even though I had no scheduled classes.
That being said, my contract ends in August and I'm quitting in March. Putting in my 30 days February 1st and I have a month long vacation in which I will be in Singapore, the Philippines, and probably Japan again.
Victory? That is to be seen.

Two things for the OP:
1. I believe the mistake you made was coming in on your day off.
2. To heck with them, forget giving notice. Leave when you feel like and let them stew and jump through hoops to get someone else. |
