Can I use multiple recruiters? And can I, at the same time, apply to jobs directly?
Also, one recruiter told me I now need 2 copies of CBC. Is this true (and does it mean I'll have to wait another 6-8 weeks?!)? And can I just copy my CBC and have it notarized and apostilled by the Secretary of my State rather than the U.S. Dept of State (saving both time and money)? |

First question, you can apply to as many recruiters. For some public school positions they only want one. However, if none of us abide by this stupid rule, then they will have to accept or go teacherless.
My understanding for the second question is that you need it notarized, then you go to the secretary of state. You need to mention it specifically in a separate letter also. Anyone with other details or have experiences, please share. |

As long as the recruiters don't know that your using multiple recruiters because they won't like that. At any rate to get the ball rolling you SHOULD contact multiple recruiters. |

I didn't use a recruiter and found myself a job within a week. Wasn't that hard.
As most of you know (this being an online message board and all) the internet exists for reasons other than to argue with one another.
Just put your resume out there, contact those who are hiring VIA email.
You don't need a recruiter. |

You can and should apply to schools directly. Unfortunately a lot o schools prefer to go through a recruiter.
If you write to schools directly, customize your resume and cover letter a bit to fit the school. With recruiters, send a CV and cover letter to as many as you can find. A simple generic version of both.
With either, send nice photos. The photo is probably worth more than your resume. If you're good looking in the photos and look like a fun guy, you'll get more offers than if you have an MA in TESOL. Try to include a photo of you working with kids or something like that. |
