so i have internet thru kt/qook and i have a router hooked up to share my connection between my laptop and ps3..now the problem is that for whatever reason my router loses the internet connection randomly. not that big a deal, but it's a bit of a pain in the ass and even more so when it causes me to get disconnected in the middle of games of madden.
so does anyone else have similar problems and if so, how did you fix besides just pulling hte plug in & out on your router? if it's relevant, i'm using us a dir-300 with the drt firmware. |

Personally, I wouldn't use any firmware hacks on a router, because I believe they can damage a unit and potentially release unsafe signal levels.
In any case, it could be that someone else is on the same channel as you, or using something like a cordless phone in the area. Hairdryers can mess routers up, too.
That, or maybe the router is just dying. |

Dir-300 is a cheap, crap router.
I have the DRT firmware, and my router has been working like a champ. Still lags on thoroughput though. My router works a lot better AFTER the custom firmware . Did you try updating to the latest DRT firmware?
FYI, routers are not created equal. For example:
I have 40mbps download when I plug my Qook internet modem directly into my PM. Now, if I use my router, and have nothing else plugged into it, my download is around 30mbps.
If I had a better router, one with a more powerful chipset, and internal RAM, then I would get the full thoroughput. Not to mention better QoS and packet prioritization.
My point is, with a router you get what you pay for. |

I also use KT/QOOK internet with a router but with two computers rather than your setup. Haven't had any problems so far with any dropped connection. Perhaps, it is, as the others said, your router. |
