Native English Teachers to List 'Bad' Schools
By Kang Shin-who
Staff Reporter
A group of native English teachers are organizing themselves to come up with a blacklist of schools that they say don't treat teachers fairly.
According to the Web site of the Independent Registry of Schools in Korea (IRSK), the organization was created by Charles Hill and some other foreign teachers working in public schools here to rate schools in Korea..... |
I hope Charles Hill will get in contact with me. Would like to record a podcast. |

I hesitate to post public schools on this list. The administration and faculty change often. So one administration may be unfair and treat you poorly. They last a semester and a new administration comes in and treats you really well.
People should be blacklisting bad VPs and principals rather than the schools themselves.

But in an ideal world this site could show Korean admins that their principals are not such perfect little angels and when they have new hires refusing to work at such-n-such school because of the bad rep, they would have to change things. In an ideal world.

Seems to me it would be real easy to identify the person posting. Most public schools have had a very limited number of foreign teachers.
If that person has recently left Korea for good, no problem. If their gripes are from years ago, they likely have zero bearing on that school today, as an above poster mentioned. But if they wanted to continue working with public schools & got outed for tarnishing their employer, it would undoubtedly be game over. |

| Personally, I think it would be more useful to have another section where people thinking of working at a particular public school could go to seek information. For example, a teacher leaving a school could register their e-mail with the site, so that if a teacher clicked on their school name (presumably from a mass list of sorts) it would give them the e-mail of the past teacher. They could then correspond privately off-site. |
