A Somali man was shot as he allegedly tried to enter the home of Danish political cartoonist Kurt Westergaard -- known for his controversial depictions of the Muslim prophet Mohammad -- on Saturday, police said.
The 27-year-old man, who was not identified, wielded an ax and a knife and cracked a window at Westergaard's home in Aarhus, said police spokesman Morten Jensen. A home alarm alerted police to the scene at 10 p.m., and they were attacked by the man, he said.
The officers shot the man in the right leg and left hand. He was hospitalized, but was not seriously injured, police said... |

Cute headline Gopher.
Kurt Westergaard should arm himself. When attacked, as in the situation here, he should shoot and kill the attacker.
Freedom of Speech is absolute.
The Right to Bear Arms is our guarantee of our right to self defense and to defend our other freedoms.
Yes, I know it's Denmark, but the principles are universal. |

I am surprised that the Danish police had the courage to draw their weapons let alone shoot. |

If an attacker is screaming and waving an axe at me, you better believe if I'm a policeman I'm shooting him.
One of the comments on the car-burning story:

Don't you just love these news reports of "youths" rioting in the streets of France .... we all know the youths are Muslim and not French, so why not report it as it is.... you can be sure if they were all Catholic the press would be "specific". |
I'll say it again. Give the French police machine guns and deportation orders, order them to grow a pair and use them, and there will be fewer problems with "disaffected youths." |

Why the quote marks around Europe?
Even if Europe was 100% muslim, it would still be Europe. No quote marks required.
Good on the Danish police. That was an appropriate response. Hopefully that guy spends a long time in jail. |

Ibrahim Shkupolli? That sounds Albanian. I am not an expert on ethnicity, but Albania is not exactly known for religiousity. For drugs, violence, scams, petty crime, perhaps. I can't comment on the rest of what you posted, but I don't see the connection between religion and what Ibrahim did. He was simply a nut case who appears to have an Albanian surname. I was right. I just looked it up. He was Albanian.
As far as the Danish case, there has been some problems with some Somalis becoming radicalized in various parts of the world and that includes Minnesota. That said, the majority of people born in Europe of Arab Muslim background feel connected to their countries, and this more true in the US and Canada, I would expect.
You can't deport people who were born there. It's one thing to strip the citizenship off of people who were not born in those countries and are radical and against those countries as was done with a cleric who was born in either Syria or Lebanon and then sent to the Middle East.
Good for the Danish police.....
