I saw this 56% alcohol chinese stuff at E-mart and was tempted to buy it. After seeing 900 won price tag I decided to skip it. Has anyone tried this [Mod Edit]? Is it safe?

baijiu. i bought that stuff from emart too. green bottle with a yellow/red label and a dragon on it?

the stuff burned my mouth (not throat) while drinking it. i got a nice drunk off of it but the next morning the underside of my tongue was red and inflamed. not really "painful" per se, but definitely a weird feeling.

i'd take a pass on it, or if you do drink it, don't finish the bottle.

gasoline. Had it a few times. The first time some teacher offered to me, said it was strong, I didn't believe him. It burned going down, thought I was going to die. A few bottles at one sitting would really be hard on the liver.

I was a bit surprised when I saw Bacardi 151 proof here. That stuff would be illegal in my home country, 75.5%... tempting... And only 25,000 won, not too bad.

My friend got a bottle of this as a gift, and didn't want to drink it. So she poured a bit of it on a rag and used it to wipe a scuff mark off her living room wall. It took the paint off the wall.

Yeah, but after a few shots it starts to go down kinda smooth. Then next thing you know your head is being mopped by a hwajangsil adjumma.

Why would you willingly consume anything from China? Poisoned baby formula, tainted pet food, lead painted toys, carcinagenic drywall...

The Korean word is goryeangju. Every Korean I know won't drink it, so it's gotta be bad. If you do fancy trying it though, it works surprizingly well with coke.

It's best compared to Bicardi 151. Theres no real reason why anyone would want to drink this stuff. It's just bad for you. Drink soju or anything else but leave that stuff alone. It will jack you up!

He sure does!

I think that stuff at Emart is called Gao Liang Jiu (고량주), which is Taiwanese and supposed to be a little different from the Er ____ Tou that comes in the clear bottle with the red and white label.

Either way, 小心!
