Come to find out we have to make these days up,(which is expected)but instead of making them on on separate weekends, I now have to work ten, ten hour days in a row.
Awesome. |

Yeah, I have to do something similar... 2 days off in October due to H1N1 flu closing, now later this month, making up the days (twelve 8-hour days of straight classes with one 20-min lunch break in between!) |

Ha ha - how ridiculous. Your employer is counting actual hours spent at work? |

They just don't want to give any money back to the parents. I understand making up the snow days(it is a business) but you would think they would do it using a better method.
Sigh. |

You also don't want to lose two days salary do you?
Of course, your students are PAYING to come to your after-school classes.
If you don't want to make up the two missed days - then let them deduct it from your salary, so they can give it back to the parents.
If you want FULL months salary, then do the make-up time and stop complaining. |

Yes, it is. My schedule is great when we're not doing intensive periods. |

How do you know what I want? Yeah they're PAYING you dummy, that much is obvious. The complaint here is that they're taking up our weekend in order to make up for the classes.(with no concern to our weekend plans) If they could have figured it out so that we have SOME sort of break during the next TEN, TEN HOUR days I work then I wouldn't have made this post.
My god, shut up and get off your ignorant high horse.
And since you already know so much, you should already know that we're not allowed to miss any classes during this intensive period due to the amount of classes we're teaching. If I could, I would take two days of holiday or use my sick days, but I CAN'T. |

Honestly 10 days in a row isn't to much. You' posted that it was 10 ten hour days in a row. That's a bit much, how many days did you miss out on ?

Exactly.
We missed out on Monday and Tuesday this week.
And yes, they are 10 hour days. |

Well then. If Sat + Sun are n't in your contract. I'd just say, I'm sorry to the boss. If you're willing to work extra over a period of 2 weeks that'd be fine. 6 days a week ok, 7 days a week, no thanks.

Ten ten-hour days in a row? Is that even legal in Korea?
This sort of thing is very good reason to quit a job, contract be damned.
Just saying. |

Everything else at this campus has been fine. My co-teachers are amazing, everyone is great. It's just this random sh*t sandwich they've served us due to the snow. Last intensive period we got a small bonus, but nothing really great. I like everything here and plan on staying another year at the campus, but this is rotten.
Sigh...
8 more days... |

I failed to mention that we have to be here at 8:30 and it's literally 30 degrees or lower in the office. Some of the rooms don't have heating and everyone is bundled up in jackets.
