|
|
Hi folks,
I have gone through the entire hiring process with an employer. He has my documents (including original university diploma), and I have my passport complete with E2 visa.
But I'm worried.
Communication has been really bad, and I'm getting a vibe that tells me he might bail. It's a rather sketchy situation - it's a brand new school, and my girlfriend and I would be the only teachers.
So, if the worst happens, what are my options? Can I have the visa "switched" to a different employer, or does everything have to be done over again? Do I have to wait for this guy to send my diploma back?
Any suggestions/comments gratefully accepted.

If you have your E2 visa already, then the school is obligated to pay you. You have a guaranteed job unless the school goes out of business. Did they pay for your ticket already? I wouldn't worry too much about bad communication. It is the holiday season and they are probably busy. Unless they wrote something negative, I wouldn't worry.
If you get to Korea and they don't pay you, you can find other jobs. I would make sure that they pay for the air fare upfront though.
Good luck. |

If this is their first time to Korea and their employer bails on them, they will more than likely have to go back to their home countries to go through the consulate interview again.
This situation happened to someone I know and they had to go through everything again because, as immigration put it, he hadn't completed a full year on an E-2 visa.
I asked immigration about again this the next time I went back and was told if you have done at least 9 months on your first E-2 visa and you lose your job or are fired unjustly, etc, you don't have to have another consulate intervew but if it's before 9 months, back to your home country you go and another interview if you want to come back to the land of Sparkle. |
