Just moved here, looking for recommendations:

1) low budget, good eating restaurants, any cuisines
2) 25,000-50,000 restaurants
3) gyms/fitness centers
4) bookstores with english language books
5) pubs
6) live music clubs or funky little lounges
7) music store
movie theater? i thought i saw one up the road from Yonsei, not sure...
9) other (whatever else you'd recommend)

It's hard to tell being that a lot of places are hidden in 10 story buildings or down alleys.

there's a film festival on at the Artreon center until Thursday.
go straight out of exit 4 Sinchon station and it's on the left a few mins walk.

1. 25,000-50,000 doesn't necessarily mean it's a Western restaurant?! I meant, good places I can splurge once in awhile... whether it's Western or where the locals go. For example, a gourmet rooftop Korean restaurant in Gangnam?

2. I'm an avid hiker, back-country backpacker, and I've hiked Soraksan, Yeongdusan, Sobaeksan and some others, but I do like to get free weights in the mix a few times per week And yes, I've enrolled in taekwondo too. Btw, where are some trails near Seoul?

4. I can't read Korean fluently yet, but when I do, yes, I'll be adding Korean books of course. But in the meantime, I need to get my fill of magazines (i'm a publisher) and LP titles.

5, 6, 7: I've enrolled in the language exchange program at Yonsei, just waiting for my assigned friend/group. I'm half Korean, quarter Pacific Island and a quarter American, and this is the first time I've lived in a foreign country, but I do find hanging out with Irish, Norwegians, Canadians, Aussies, Kiwis, Spanish, etc. just as enriching, fun and culturally explorative being that they are all people I normally did not hang out with in the past.

8. Oh, comon, I gotta get my fill of Americanisms But I do enjoy a lot of Korean movies as is, before I moved here.

9. "Stay away from Dave's" I don't think I frequent as much as most of the people seem to on here

There is more of a hiking trail than you'd imagine up the mountain behind Hongdae. Not as big as some of the others but do that daily and it'll keep you fit. I think it's about 200-something meters tall.

FF is the one with way too many foreigners. DGBD probably has the best shows.

Manakumana is my favorite Indian place in Seoul. They're just up the street from Mike's Cabin. Also, the big dalkgalbi places are pretty good for a cheap feed. Choi's Tacos is great for cheapish takeout mexican.

There are two movie theaters. Straight out exit 4 about 3-5min on you left. The other one is in the old rail station near Edae.
