hello everyone.

I have a friend coming to Korea & it's her first experience teaching.

I'm trying to suggest a good book for her to read prior to coming.

Does anyone have any recommendations about a book on teaching esl?

Something that would be directed towards Korea would be ideal.

Any good advice....anyone?

1) Scrivener's Learning Teaching.

2) Swan's Practical English Usage.

Scrivener is the standard text for countless ESL courses and is an exceptional guide to for a beginner.

Swan is the best book you can buy as an English teacher and it's one that she'll rely on throughout her ESL career. If all ESL teachers bothered to buy Swan then we'd never have to see another pointless grammar question on Dave.

Available in all good bookstores, some dodgy ones and even online. Wink Wink

Teaching EFL to Asians is a good one (we teach EFL here, not ESL. Slight difference)

Or I think the title is Teaching EFL to children in Asia

I don't know the exact title, but there's a book that lists the rules to a zillion different children's games that could be helpful.

Any book on classroom management

and there's another book called The First Year Teacher's Survival Kit that looks pretty interesting.

I'm working in a bookstore now, so I come accross a lot of titles but don't have enough time to actually read everything that looks interesting to me.
