At some point during my time here in Korea, I stopped trying to avoid bumping into other Koreans when walking somewhere. I got tired of being the only one making any effort in avoiding running into another person. This somewhat recent change in my policy has resulted in a few K-Dorks and K-Princesses getting knocked to the ground (or close to), counterfeit iPhones go flying in the air, and so on.
As long as I don't get hurt or arrested, then no harm, right? I mean, if Mr. or Ms. Kim don't find it important enough to watch where they are going, why should I care?
Is this right or wrong on my part? |

| Well don't go barging into them in a full forecheck mode but an elbow or slight check would be okay. Just don't show any remorse when you bump them. Keep walking. |

While joining them is always touted as a good alternative to continuously failing, it's clear from your post that you've only 'joined' them in body. If you can't do it without guilt, then you'll probably end up giving it up soonr or later, and the longer you go, the worse you'll feel.
Having said that, there are other options too. Off the top of my head, get better at dodging, learn several ways to tell them off in Korean, learn to stand your ground without tossing people to theirs, or take a bus. |

| Not wrong at all. I had a jacket made in Thailand with razor blades embedded in the elbows. Like a walking effing Roman chariot I am. I loves it. Sometimes I gets them in the eye and they actually thank me for making them an eyelid. Really. |

you are soooo childish.... just keep avoiding bumping into other people no matter what others do to you. you would feel good about yourself doing that. |

Well, when in Rome...
Everyone always says that we should adapt to the culture here, well, I think giving a couple elbow shots/forearms is appropriate. |

Suwon4AGT Some day, sit down in a coffee shop or stand on a street corner and watch Koreans walk. Sure, sometimes they bump into each other, but it's generally a "casual" bump with no harm done. When they DO really hit each other, there is usually a quick "sorry".
After a few years here, I realized the problem with westerners walking in Korea. You're walking straight ahead. Someone else is directly in front of you. Which way do you move?
You move to your right, right? Well, Koreans instinctively move to the left...which is to the right as we are facing them. Makes for some awkward moments!
Now that I've been here a number of years, I find myself moving to the left to avoid someone coming towards me....which works well here, but really makes a mess when I'm at the mall in the US!!  |

Umm, let's put it this way. I've yet to have any problem running into someone who is paying attention as to where they are going. I'm referring to these self-important people who abruptly stop in front of you just to talk on their iPhone or are in lala-land. It's not like I go out of my way to push people over. It just seems that everywhere I go there are too many people like this. |

Koreans walk like they drive: never in a straight line. In fact, I've had to jump off of sidewalks on the occasion just to avoid a collision. I swear, sometimes they are gunnin' for me!  |

Since Koreans routinely walk into each other, even if one is stationary, I think your theory needs further refinement. |
