Since it's winter, I'm of course headed down to South Asia and into mosquito territory. But b/c of the fact that it's winter here it's tougher to find protection from the little bastids.

Specifically I need to find Permethrin spray (http://www.amazon.com/Sawyer-Products-Clothing-Permethrin-Sp657/dp/B001ANQVYU/ref=pd_sim_sg_5)
some normal DEET spray, and a mosquito net.

I think the tough part will be the Permethrin. Anyone know any good outdoors shops where I can likely find these types of products this time of year?

Cheers

Just stock up on tomatos.

DEET is a chemical that poses medical risks to some people.

Scientists in the United States have found that tomatoes are better at keeping mosquitoes away than mosquito spray.

While looking at a mosquito's stomach, one doctor found something interesting. Mosquitoes have a chemical in their stomach. The chemical tells them when to stop eating. This chemical is a lot like a chemical found in tomatoes.

Scientists discovered that applying tomato juice to a person's skin keeps mosquitoes away.

Most mosquito sprays have a chemical called DEET.

DEET keeps 78% of mosquitoes away.
Tomatoes, keep 91% away.

So, the next time you think about spraying on that stinky mosquito spray, think again. Why don't you just cut a tomato in half and rub it all over your skin?

If you don't like tomatoes then mix some soybean oil, geranium oil, and Coconut oil together in some water and place in a spray bottle. Just spray that on every 2 hours.

The EPA currently rates DEET as Toxicity Category III. Overuse of DEET can have lethal consequences.

the guy was not asking for you hippie solutions he's asking for Deet deep jungle anti-mosquito spray. I bathe in the stuff when I go to the philippines.
On vacation it's not the time to try something I heard from some guy that works wonders.
Plus trying to bring tomatoes in his luggage and being sticky w/ tomatoes juice sounds just wrong. I'll stick to the poison
Have you tried one of the outdoors/hiking places? Also you can risk it and try to find it down there.

Also I this guy I know said if you drink the water you will feel like a GOD! Rolling Eyes

Though a bit late if there isn't any there, I always buy my "beomuli" (Korean anti-itch bite liquid) at the airport pharmacy just before the winter escape to the south. They usually stock a lot of out of season stuff there, just not sure about the chems you're looking for. Might be worth searching for their phone number thru the airport website (www.airport.or.kr) and at least they'll speak English. 3 more weeks for me and it's beomuli time again!!!! Laughing
