I don't know how this wasn't in the local news more, since it happened locally here.
Warren "Gator" Taylor from the Beverly Hills Mobile Home Park took a Tennessee Vols fan and others hostage. I knew the Vols/Gators rivalry was big, but damn! Fortunately, Gator was bribed with a pizza and released the hostages.

Weird. I thought Vols were the ones with all the guns and drugs these days. |

He probably left his guns in the car and his drugs were inside the Elvis statue he was mailing to his cousin in Chattanooga. But I'm not sure how he can go around flying the Vols colors and not have arm and neck tattoos. He doesn't have much street cred and is an embarrassment to the University of Tennessee. |

And this is why the rural south continues to be a target of ridicule. |

Gainesville is hardly the "rural south."
I could be biased, as UF is my Alma Mater, but take it from me: Gainesville is a pretty sexy piece of turf.
Whenever I go down to UF, we net a National Championship. They gotta start paying me. Then they can flood the streets more often.

I was the Swamp (it's the name of a popular restaurant, not just our stadium) down on University Ave. a few hours before our most recent basketball national championship. They were greasing the light poles.
That's UF for ya. |

They need to start paying me too. Whenever I go to Gainesville, the Gators beat Tennessee in football. When I don't go to a matchup in Gainesville, Tennessee wins. Not that I'm disappointed to see them win on TV, but I wish the Vols could win one just once when I'm actually there. And people can say all they want about the ladies at Ole Miss because I can certainly see where they're coming from, but the co-eds in Gainesville are the best in the SEC. |

While we have no shortage of homegrown idiots, the imports are the ones giving us a bad reputation. Take for example, the much-publicized problems with Tennessee basketball players in the past year and our reputation as Thug U.
Ramar Smith of Mt. Clemens, MI armed home invasion robbery, theft of a bag of drugs, a gun, and $6000. Charged with aggravated robbery and dismissed from the team.
Josh Tabb of Cincinnati, OH dismissed for repeated drug violations
Brian Williams of the Bronx, NY charged with (a)unlawful poss. of firearm (b) poss. of firearm with altered serial # (c) poss. of schedule VI drugs
Melvin Goins of San Diego, CA charged with (a) unlawful poss. of firearm (b) poss. of schedule VI drugs
Cameron Tatum of Atlanta, GA charged with (a) unlawful poss. of firearm (b) open container of alcohol
Tyler Smith, transfer from University of Iowa charged with (a) unlawful poss. of firearm (b) poss. of firearm with altered serial #
Wayne Chism of lowly Bolivar, TN is the only player left from Coach Pearl's first recruiting class, making him the winner of "Survivor, Signing Class '06." |

lol. The reason I am so into college football is the SEC. It is an awesome league. Reminds me of Italian/Spanish soccer fans. Normally american sports are pretty sterile. |

Well I was referring to things you can currently still only get in the South. BBQ, blues, and fried food have all migrated out, but I still haven't found another place that can breed good women and good sports fever as well as we can. I hear the NW is catchin up though. |
